The symbolism between these two memorials connects the mission of those who served as multi-national peacekeepers in Beirut from 1982 to 1984. Their mission to provide both military and first responder type services to provide a blanket of freedom in foreign land represent the American spirit.

Liberty Tree dedicated at Veterans Park

A live oak tree was dedicated as a Liberty Tree during a ceremony at William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park on Edgewater Drive in Port Charlotte.
The Parade will kick-off at 9am, from the Beach Park, continue north on Harbor Blvd. The Parade will then turn west on Edgewater Drive and continue to the William R. Gaines, Jr. Veterans Memorial Park.

William Ray Gaines (Bill, Billy Ray), 89, Tampa, FL, entered the gates of heaven on October 18, 2021 under the gentle care of Suncoast Hospice, Empath Health, in St. Petersburg, FL.
Beirut Veterans are honored at park dedication
The Beirut Veterans of America (BVA) is dedicated to keeping the memories alive of those comrades who served in and around Beirut, Lebanon, and especially those who gave their lives as the ultimate price paid for freedom. This includes those who served in Beirut in the 1950's, 1970's and the conflict in the 1980's.
Thank you to all those who participated in the 1st Freedom Run at the William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park. Over 100 runners, volunteers, and supporters showed up before 9am for the 5K race.
Join us for one of the last 5k's of the year and let's leave 2020 in the dust! The race will start and end at the William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park. All proceeds will go toward the William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Fund.
