Progress took a big leap on Veterans Day at the Williams R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park with the unveiling of a $100,000 check from a late World War II veteran. Charlotte Sun Article, By BETSY CALVERT Staff Writer
The symbolism between these two memorials connects the mission of those who served as multi-national peacekeepers in Beirut from 1982 to 1984. Their mission to provide both military and first responder type services to provide a blanket of freedom in foreign land represent the American spirit.

Liberty Tree dedicated at Veterans Park

A live oak tree was dedicated as a Liberty Tree during a ceremony at William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park on Edgewater Drive in Port Charlotte.
The Parade will kick-off at 9am, from the Beach Park, continue north on Harbor Blvd. The Parade will then turn west on Edgewater Drive and continue to the William R. Gaines, Jr. Veterans Memorial Park.
